MGRRE Collection of Core Analyses

[Updated 19 July 2012] - Tabular listing of more than 2100 oil and gas well core analyses housed at MGRRE, Western Michigan University. You can search this data file by county, operator, well name, or permit number. This listing is available in Microsoft Excel format. Values for porosity, permeability and fluid saturations are available where noted as individual MS-Excel spreadsheets.

If you would like to order digital copies of core analyses, send an email to linda.harrison@wmich.edu with the API number of the wells, and we will send them to you along with a statement for $15 per core analysis. MGRRE Cuttings Available for Sampling - Listing of over 4000 drill cuttings housed at MGRRE, Western Michigan University. This data file is sorted by permit number and includes location, well name, API and footage intervals of cuttings samples. These cuttings are available for both viewing and sampling.

MGRRE Cuttings Available for Viewing - Listing of over 6000 drill cuttings housed at MGRRE, Western Michigan University. This data file is sorted by permit number and includes location, well name, API and footage intervals of cuttings samples. These cuttings are available for viewing only.

MGRRE Collection of State Cuttings - This inventory is in progress and will be expanded as we move through this collection. This data file is sorted by location and includes well name, permit number, API and footage intervals of cuttings samples. These cuttings are usually available for sample, but some are for viewing only.

NOTE: Our cuttings inventory shows footage ranges as written on the outside of the boxes. We never know what's actually in those boxes until we open them. Large footage intervals were not actually sampled at all.

Footages noted in the inventory listing represent the top and bottom of the sampling interval; WE DO NOT GUARANTEE CUTTINGS IN THE ENTIRE RANGE OF THE SAMPLED INTERVAL.

MGRRE COLLECTION OF MUDLOGS - Listing of over 3700 oil and gas well mudlogs housed at MGRRE. [.xls file format - updated 2010 Mar 08] This data file includes county, location, permit number, API number, operator, well name, depth intervals of logs, and range of formations logged. These mudlogs have been scanned and are available as TIFF-format images.

MGRRE WIRELINE LOG COLLECTION - spreadsheet listing of over 16,000 Michigan oil and gas well wireline logs availabe at MGRRE, Western Michigan University. This listing contains the county, permit number, operator, depth and wireline log type. Some of these logs have been scanned and are available as TIFF-format images. SEARCH THE STATEWIDE ANTRIM SHALE HALF-SCALE LOG COLLECTION DONATED BY DAVE MATTHEWS - Searchable on-line listing of statewide oil and gas well wireline logs specifically selected to show the Antrim Shale interval in the Dave Matthews collection at MGRRE, Western Michigan University. You can specify the county or well name. The results are returned in tabular format listing county, well name, total depth, permit number and types of logs.

CHROMATOGRAPHIC ANALYSES OF DRILL CUTTINGS - Listing of chromatographic analyses of oil and gas well cuttings performed by Maness Petroleum Labs. File is sorted by county and contains location, well name, depth intervals of cuttings samples, and permit number.

MICHIGAN OIL AND GAS WELL GAS ANALYSIS DATA - Spreadsheet file with analytical data on natural gas sample composition from nearly 1200 wells. Data include county, well name, permit, gas gravity, molecular composition percentages of methane through heptane. Also noted are oxygen, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen sulfide content. These data were validated, modified and updated by Joe Hatch of the U.S.G.S. as part of their work concerning Michigan Basin Petroleum Assessment.

SEARCH MICHIGAN OIL AND GAS WELL PRODUCTION DATABASE - Searchable on-line listing of Michigan Oil and Gas wells and fields. This database can be searched by field name or by county. Data is compiled from the State of Michigan Production Database and the 1986 published Statistical Summary of Michigan Oil and Gas Fields. Production information is not available for all wells or fields, but is being updated periodically. These data sets ended in 2001 and are now replaced by the Michigan On-line Oil and Gas Information System
